Job Purpose

Responsible for mechanical maintenance, machine improvement, and machine setup to ensure high equipment reliability and efficient operation of aluminium can and end production lines.

The role focuses on maintaining product quality within specifications, systematically eliminating equipment failures, optimizing maintenance and spare parts costs, and continuously improving machine performance while maintaining high standards of Safety, Quality, Reliability, and Productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Reliability

• Perform and continuously improve Preventive, Predictive, and Corrective Maintenance (PM/PdM/CM).
• Analyze breakdowns and chronic equipment failures using RCA, 5 Why, FMEA, and Pareto Analysis.
• Reduce equipment downtime and MTTR while improving MTBF, machine availability, and reliability.

Machine Setup & Product Quality

• Set up, adjust, and fine-tune production equipment to achieve required product specifications.
• Analyze the relationship between Machine Settings – Process Conditions – Product Quality.
• Reduce defects, spoilage, and losses during machine start-up and product changeovers.

Machine Improvement

• Design and modify machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and mechanical systems using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Improve equipment reliability, productivity, safety, maintainability, and overall machine performance.

Problem Solving & Data Analysis

• Apply systematic engineering and data-driven problem-solving approaches to identify and verify root causes.
• Use Minitab for statistical analysis, trend analysis, Pareto analysis, process capability analysis, and improvement validation.

Spare Parts & Cost Management

• Identify and manage critical spare parts and optimize Min-Max and Safety Stock levels.
• Evaluate Repair vs. Replace decisions based on technical and cost considerations.
• Develop local or alternative parts to reduce lead time and Maintenance & Repair (M&R) costs without compromising safety, quality, or reliability.

Continuous Improvement

• Lead and support engineering improvement projects to reduce breakdowns, minor stops, speed losses, quality losses, and maintenance costs.
• Conduct cost-benefit and cost-saving analyses for engineering improvement projects.

Standardization & Documentation

• Develop and maintain WI, SOP, PM Standards, Machine Setup Standards, Troubleshooting Guides, and Engineering Drawings.
• Ensure engineering documentation and practices comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, and HACCP requirements.

Safety

• Ensure compliance with Machine Safety, LOTO/LOTOTO, and Risk Assessment requirements.
• Verify machine guards, safety devices, and interlocks following maintenance, repair, and modification activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Preferably 25–30 years old, or candidates with an equivalent level of relevant experience and competency.
• 2–7 years of experience in Mechanical Maintenance, Machine Improvement, Machine Setup, Production Engineering, or a related role in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including bearings, gears, shafts, couplings, belt/chain drives, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, lubrication, alignment, fits, and tolerances.
• Strong systematic problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting production equipment.
• Proficient in SolidWorks (3D) and AutoCAD (2D) for mechanical design, modification, and engineering drawings.
• Able to use Minitab for data and statistical analysis.
• Good understanding of Spare Parts Management, Maintenance Cost Optimization, and Repair vs. Replace analysis.
• Good command of English, particularly Technical English, with the ability to communicate effectively with overseas OEMs, suppliers, and foreign service engineers during machine installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support activities.
• Able to discuss technical issues, explain machine problems, understand technical instructions and manuals, and coordinate corrective actions in English.
• Strong analytical thinking, ownership, teamwork, communication, continuous improvement, and safety mindset.
• Experience in Aluminium Can, Packaging, or High-Speed Manufacturing is an advantage.
• Knowledge of TPM, RCM, Predictive Maintenance, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma is an advantage.
