4. Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for mechanical design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and manufacturing support for electronic products, enclosures, assemblies, fixtures, tooling, and related mechanical components.

The role works closely with Electronics Engineering, Process Engineering, Production, Quality, Procurement, and suppliers to ensure mechanical components and products meet design, quality, reliability, and manufacturing requirements.

5. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Mechanical Design & Development

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, fixtures, jigs, and product enclosures.
• Prepare and modify 2D drawings and 3D CAD models.
• Develop mechanical designs according to product specifications and customer requirements.
• Select suitable materials, components, fasteners, and manufacturing methods.
• Review mechanical designs for functionality, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
• Maintain mechanical design documentation and revision records.

B. Electronics Product Mechanical Support

• Support mechanical aspects of electronic products and PCBA assemblies.
• Design or modify product housings, brackets, frames, covers, mounting structures, and other mechanical parts.
• Ensure proper fit, alignment, clearance, and assembly of electronic and mechanical components.
• Work with Electronics Engineers to ensure proper integration between electronic and mechanical components.

C. Manufacturing & Production Support

• Provide technical support to production for mechanical assembly issues.
• Troubleshoot problems related to dimensions, fit, alignment, assembly, tooling, and mechanical components.
• Improve mechanical manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Support production line setup and process improvements.
• Investigate recurring mechanical production problems and implement corrective actions.

D. Tooling, Jig & Fixture Development

• Design and develop production jigs, fixtures, gauges, and tooling.
• Work with suppliers or tooling vendors to manufacture required tools and fixtures.
• Conduct trials and validate tooling performance.
• Modify tooling and fixtures based on production feedback.
• Ensure tooling is suitable for production requirements.

E. New Product Introduction

• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
• Review mechanical designs for manufacturability.
• Support prototype and pilot builds.
• Conduct mechanical testing and validation.
• Identify mechanical design or manufacturing risks before mass production.
• Support design changes and product improvement activities.

F. Engineering Change Management

• Support Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
• Review and implement approved mechanical design changes.
• Update drawings, specifications, BOMs, and related engineering documents.
• Ensure revised components and drawings are properly controlled.

G. Supplier & Material Support

• Work with Procurement and suppliers on mechanical components and materials.
• Review supplier drawings and technical specifications.
• Evaluate samples and first articles from suppliers.
• Support supplier-related mechanical quality issues.
• Assist in identifying alternative materials or components where required.

H. Testing & Failure Analysis

• Conduct mechanical testing and validation.
• Analyze mechanical failures, deformation, damage, vibration, fitment, and assembly problems.
• Perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare technical reports and engineering recommendations.

6. Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in electronics manufacturing.
• Experience in electronic product manufacturing, EMS, PCBA, precision parts, tooling, or mechanical assembly is an advantage.
• Experience in product design, tooling, jig/fixture development, or manufacturing engineering is preferred.
• Fresh graduates with relevant technical skills may be considered for junior-level positions.

7. Technical Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
• Proficient in 2D/3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or equivalent.
• Able to read and prepare engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T is an advantage.
• Understanding of machining, sheet metal, injection molding, stamping, and mechanical assembly is preferred.
• Knowledge of material selection and mechanical properties.
• Familiarity with tolerance analysis and fitment.
• Knowledge of tooling, jig, and fixture design.
• Good Microsoft Office skills.

9. Language Requirements

• Mandarin Chinese: Required.
• Able to communicate effectively with Mandarin-speaking management, engineers, technicians, suppliers, and production personnel.
• Able to participate in technical discussions in Mandarin.
• Able to understand Mandarin technical instructions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM4,500.00 - RM5,500.00 per month
