Mechanical Engineer

About the role

This role involves planning, coordinating, and carrying out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for plant equipment. You will troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures, investigate breakdowns to identify root causes, and implement measures to prevent recurrence. You will monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to reliability and efficiency, while ensuring all maintenance work complies with safety regulations, company policies, and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for plant equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and take corrective action to minimise downtime
• Investigate equipment breakdowns, identify root causes, and implement measures to prevent recurrence
• Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to reliability and efficiency
• Prepare, review, and update technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents
• Support the planning, installation, commissioning, and performance evaluation of plant equipment
• Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors to procure maintenance materials and services
• Ensure maintenance work complies with safety regulations, company policies, and statutory requirements
• Monitor maintenance costs and identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve operations
• Lead continuous improvement and innovation projects related to plant maintenance and operations

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Good knowledge of mechanical equipment, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and recommend practical solutions
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with operations teams
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices and maintenance procedures
• At least 5 years of experience in plant maintenance or a manufacturing environment, or fresh graduate
