Mechanical Engineer

A Chemical MNC which is also a manufacturer with friendly work culture is seeking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their Engineering team. You will be taking care of the development, implementation and monitoring of plans to ensure the achievement of engineering objectives. You will solve problems, sometimes in the face of limited or vague information. You may be required to respond to, and assist with incident investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate technical information internally at all site levels and with external contractors, suppliers and regulators on engineering related matters
• Provide troubleshooting skills to manufacturing equipment to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum
• Drive and be involved in hazard studies and participate in process hazard reviews as well as carrying out risk assessments
• Utilize engineering skills and identify improvement opportunities via data-driven analysis from company's past records to develop innovative solutions in equipment design and performance
• Accountable for the equipment database with relevant equipment datasheets and technical documentation for equipment as well as maintaining and updating equipment records on any modifications or upgrades to ensure records are up-to-date in the system
• Identify improvement opportunities and develop innovative solutions in equipment design and performance using data-driven analysis and equipment history records
• Responsible for measurable work quality and safety management for vendors and contractors
• In-charge of assigned projects from initialisation to completion, monitoring project progress, addressing challenges proactively

About you

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
• At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
• Mechanical Engineering background, with exposure to maintenance activities in a plant-based environment such as chemical, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, manufacturing or related industries.
• Practical knowledge of mechanical equipment reliability, troubleshooting, and maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with SAP maintenance log system
• Knowledge Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies
• Strong drive, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
