Company Overview
Aura Construction Ltd is a dynamic leader in the construction industry, committed to delivering innovative and sustainable building solutions. We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative environment that encourages growth, creativity, and excellence in every project.
Position Summary
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead and deliver mechanical installations across our commercial and infrastructure projects throughout London and the South-East.
You will be confident working within live environments, including airports, railway stations, and occupied commercial buildings, and capable of taking ownership of mechanical installations from first fix through to handover. The role requires broad, hands-on experience across commercial plumbing, pipework, heating, HVAC, ventilation, ductwork, and plant-room installations.
You will work closely with our mechanical, electrical, and fit-out delivery teams, supervising junior team members and subcontractors where required and representing the company professionally when dealing with clients, main contractors, and consultants.
Overtime is available, and there may occasionally be a requirement to travel or work away from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and carry out mechanical installation work, including commercial plumbing, pipework, heating systems, ventilation, ductwork, and plant-room assembly.
- Coordinate and deliver first- and second-fix installations within live commercial and infrastructure environments.
- Read and interpret mechanical layout drawings, schematics, and technical specifications accurately.
- Take ownership of assigned installations from first fix through to completion and handover.
- Supervise and work alongside junior team members, improvers, and subcontractors, ensuring that work is completed to the required standard.
- Liaise with clients, main contractors, consultants, and other site teams to resolve technical queries and coordinate progress.
- Manage materials, equipment, and plant required for the assigned scope of work.
- Work in accordance with risk assessments and method statements, permit-to-work systems, and access-control requirements.
- Ensure work complies with applicable health and safety requirements, site procedures, and technical specifications.
- Maintain a professional standard of conduct when representing the company on site.
- Work overtime and occasionally travel or work away from home where required by the project programme.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer or Senior Mechanical Installer within commercial or infrastructure construction.
- Broad hands-on experience in mechanical installation, including commercial plumbing, pipework, heating systems, HVAC, ventilation, ductwork, and plant rooms.
- Able to coordinate and complete first- and second-fix mechanical installations.
- Able to read and interpret detailed mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications independently.
- Confident supervising junior team members, improvers, and subcontractors.
- Strong client-facing communication skills and a professional, reliable approach.
- Thorough knowledge of UK health and safety regulations.
- Experience working within live, occupied, secure, or permit-controlled environments.
- Valid CSCS card (Skills Card, SKILLcard, or appropriate professional registration).
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary based on experience and technical capability.
- Overtime opportunities on top of base salary.
- Consistent work across commercial and infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to live infrastructure environments, including airports and railway stations.
- An autonomous role with responsibility for delivering mechanical installations from first fix through to handover.
- Genuine career-development opportunities within a growing SME.
