Job Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Production Engineer to support new projects entering Operations and develop manufacturing packages for high-quality HVAC products. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with SolidWorks, 2D CAD, sheet metal design, manufacturing support, and project ownership , preferably within the commercial HVAC industry.

This role will work closely with engineering, operations, sales, customers, vendors, and manufacturing teams to take projects from release through completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Own projects from job release through job completion , ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
• Develop detailed manufacturing packages, shop drawings, assembly instructions, and production documentation .
• Support manufacturing operations with engineering solutions and technical guidance.
• Design and optimize sheet metal components and manufacturing processes .
• Work with customers and vendors to obtain required materials, components, and equipment.
• Manage component purchasing and vendor relationships.
• Review designs with the Sales team to ensure successful product installation and manufacturability.
• Support new product and project introduction into Operations.
• Identify and resolve production challenges using structured problem-solving techniques.
• Participate in or lead Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing initiatives .
• Provide hands-on support on the manufacturing floor, including light assembly and instructional support as needed.

HVAC Product Experience

Experience with HVAC systems or components such as:

• Enthalpy & sensible plate heat exchangers
• Energy recovery wheels
• Gas and electric heaters
• Hot water and cold water coils
• DX coils
• Filter racks
• Control dampers
• Fan array systems

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline .
• 6–10 years of relevant engineering/manufacturing experience .
• Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks .
• Proficiency with 2D CAD .
• Experience creating shop drawings, manufacturing packages, and assembly instructions .
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and sheet metal design.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work effectively in both office and manufacturing environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Commercial HVAC industry experience.
• Lean Six Sigma certification .
• Experience with Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing.
• Experience working directly with vendors, customers, and manufacturing teams.

Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in both an office and manufacturing environment . The engineer will spend significant time designing and working on a computer while also providing hands-on support on the manufacturing floor, including light assembly and instructional activities.
