Mechanical Engineer

PURPOSE

• Mechanical Engineers working within the Engineering department, reporting to the Engineering Manager and working with guidance from the Design Engineering team, applying their skills and expertise to generate solutions that require development or sustainment of new or improved techniques, procedures, or products. Responsibilities include assisting with planning, conducting, and evaluating approaches to meet project objectives in a timely and cost-effective fashion.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES

• Work alongside Engineers to refine current designs.
• Mechanical 3D CAD design of components and systems.
• Modelling and simulation.
• Preform complex calculation related to designs specifications.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Product engineering involving design, value engineering, design validation, functional testing, life cycle testing and manufacturing engineering.

• Create 3D CAD Models and detailed drawings. Extensive demonstrated experience with SolidWorks is required.

• Manage a Bill of Materials, specification drawings, functional design specifications and maintain a document control process.

• Producing and implementing designs and test procedures for ESP (Electrical Submersible Pumps) and HSPS (Horizontal Surface Pumping System) components.

• Experience with all types of industrial hand tools and precision measuring instruments.

• Build prototypes, products, and systems for testing; set up and run laboratory simulations.

• Define, coordinate, perform, and generate engineering test reports. Specify and review engineering documentation.

• Contribute to design standards.

• Analyse and interpret data.

• Liaising with suppliers.

• Problem solving and undertake relevant research.

  QHSE Responsibilities:

• Comply and Participate on Company QHSE Culture and assist with employees to ensure knowledge of QHSE procedures.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

• Ensure safe working practices and action taken if unsafe practices are observed.

• Perform other related work as required.

  Other Responsibilities:

• Train Manufacturing personnel, and provide technical support.

• Work directly with engineering, sales, and customer to produce drawings and bill of materials for ESP and HSPS components.

• When require, work directly with Manufacturing and Repair Departments to solve technical and production issues with equipment.

• Work closely with all company departments to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error free.

COMPETENCIES

Education an Experience Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree Mechanical Engineering Degree in related field is minimum requirement.
• Minimum 2 years of working experience in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• Associates degree in drafting design or equivalent experience required. In addition, 1 year drafting experience preferred.
• SolidWorks training completed and certificates.
• Experience with manufacturing and manufacturing processes preferred.
• Experience in working with 3rd party vendors to create and develop parts/assemblies.

Skills:

• Fluid System Design. CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) capabilities is a plus.
• SolidWorks 3D modelling and creating detail drawings using ANSI Y14.5 (GD&T). Able to create large assemblies and manage the files that go along with them. PDM experience a plus.
• Perform basic engineering calculations.
• Sheetmetal design a must, including plastics forming processes.
• Has a working knowledge of how to work with engineering consultants.
• Must have good written & verbal skills in order to communicate and liaison with other departments.
• Collaborate with others supervisors, managers, and staff to coordinate programs, projects, and activities amongst work groups.
• Computer literacy: in all Microsoft office packages.
• Ability to multitask, work under pressure.
• Detailed-oriented, hard-working and can-do attitude.
• Good Interpersonal skills, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage time and problem solving and decision making.

• Work closely with all company department to ensure that procedures, drawings, forms, etc., are being followed and corrected.
