Mechanical Engineer

The Mechanical Engineer oversees the mechanical reliability, safety, and operational efficiency of a company's hauling and transport fleet (e.g., dump trucks, trailers, heavy machinery loaders). The role ensures minimum vehicle downtime, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Fleet Maintenance & Repair: Schedule and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance for heavy transport trucks, trailers, and hauling equipment.
• Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures in hauling equipment and coordinate swift repairs.
• Fleet Optimization: Analyze fuel consumption, tire wear, and operational data to improve fleet efficiency and reduce overall transport costs.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all hauling vehicles and lifting mechanisms comply with national and local transport, environmental, and occupational safety standards.
• Vendor & Parts Management: Coordinate with external machine shops, parts suppliers, and technical service providers for component fabrication and repairs.
• Team Supervision: Assign, monitor, and evaluate the performance of mechanics, technicians, and maintenance staff.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience: 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably within logistics, trucking, transport, or heavy equipment hauling environments.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, heavy-duty hydraulic systems, and preventive maintenance programs
• Soft Skills: Good problem-solving capabilities, leadership skills, and the ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced operations
