Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Oversee and responsible for overall repair and maintenance of equipment under your responsibility. Perform periodic inspection, troubleshooting and root cause analysis on repeated equipment failure. Plan and implement preventive/predictive maintenance program and upgrading of equipment to ensure long term stability of operation, and ensure compliance with health, safety hygiene legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and maximize equipment efficiency with frequent inspections on equipment under your responsibility
• Coordinate with person in charge (PIC) of related departments, so that preventive/predictive maintenance works can be carried out efficiently with good teamwork
• Supervise preventive/predictive maintenance works carried out by subordinates, and ensure strict adherence to hygiene, safety, and health requirement
• Be on call and deal with unplanned downtime to ensure minimum stoppages to production line
• Work closely with related department in carry out maintenance plan, shutdown, and minor project works as needed
• Implement and monitor shift schedule for efficient manpower planning and cost control
• Provide training and guidance to subordinates in carrying out repair and maintenance works with proper engineering practice and safety awareness
• Carry out inspection of mechanical components for possibility of repair and salvage before disposal
• Plan, organize and/or carry out mechanical fabrication works when necessary
• Seek advice from engineers of different engineering expertise or external source when necessary

About you

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing environment (food production manufacturing will be an advantage)
• Degree (Mechanical, Industrial automation, manufacturing, or other related fields)
• Meticulously driven, analytical and a team player
• Computer literate (Microsoft application such as words, excel, power point & etc.)
• Able to read and write Malay, English (3rd language will be an advantage)
• Strong problem-solving analysis and troubleshooting skills are essential
