What they need
Mechanical Engineer – Food Production Factory
Dodan Foods
About Dodan Foods
Dodan Foods is a large-scale food production company operating a modern manufacturing facility. We produce high-quality food products under strict hygiene, safety, and quality standards. Our factory relies on advanced processing, packaging, and material-handling equipment, and we are committed to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and a safe working environment.
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining, improving, and optimizing mechanical systems and production equipment across the factory. This hands-on role combines day-to-day equipment reliability with project work aimed at increasing efficiency, reducing downtime, and supporting food-safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment including conveyors, mixers, pumps, compressors, packaging lines, boilers, HVAC systems, and other production machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical faults, perform root-cause analysis, and implement effective, lasting solutions to minimize production downtime.
- Lead or support equipment installation, modification, and upgrade projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring designs meet hygiene, safety, and process requirements.
- Develop and improve preventive maintenance schedules, spare-parts strategies, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
- Ensure all mechanical work complies with relevant food-safety standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP principles), health & safety regulations, and company policies.
- Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for equipment modifications or new installations; review and approve contractor work where required.
- Collaborate closely with production, quality assurance, electrical/automation, and maintenance teams to solve cross-functional problems and drive continuous improvement (OEE, energy efficiency, waste reduction).
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to technicians and junior engineers.
- Participate in risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support energy-management and sustainability projects related to mechanical systems.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related engineering discipline).
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a manufacturing or industrial environment; experience in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or other hygienic process industries is strongly preferred.
- Solid practical knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, rotating equipment, fluid systems, and plant utilities.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a systematic approach to fault diagnosis.
- Familiarity with food-industry hygiene design principles, stainless-steel fabrication, and cleanability requirements.
- Competence in reading and producing technical drawings and using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic project management principles.
- Understanding of health & safety legislation and safe systems of work in an industrial setting.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours when required to support production or emergency breakdowns.
Preferred / Desirable
- Experience with packaging machinery, process automation interfaces, or PLC-controlled equipment.
- Knowledge of energy-efficient systems, compressed-air optimization, or boiler/steam systems.
- Professional Engineer registration or progress toward it (advantageous but not mandatory).
- Previous experience leading small capital or continuous-improvement projects.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to work in a large, modern food-production facility with diverse mechanical systems.
- Collaborative engineering environment focused on reliability and continuous improvement.
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
- Professional development and career-growth opportunities within a growing organization.
How to Apply
Please submit your up-to-date CV/resume and a brief cover letter highlighting your relevant mechanical engineering experience in manufacturing or food production via this Indeed posting. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
