The opportunity
A well-regarded engineering and advisory consultancy is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its Brisbane team. If you have a strong HVAC and building services background and you’re ready to take more ownership of your projects, this is a great opportunity to step up.
You will lead and deliver mechanical design across a diverse mix of projects, including commercial, health, education, defence and major infrastructure. Working within a multidisciplinary national team, you will manage your own projects from concept through to completion, mentor emerging engineers, and help shape the continued growth of the Brisbane mechanical team.
What you will be doing
- Leading and delivering mechanical design projects to a high technical standard, from concept through to detailed design and delivery
- Preparing detailed design calculations and documentation, and supporting the delivery of quality HVAC and building services solutions
- Providing design certification and QA review in line with company policies and standards
- Coordinating requirements across disciplines and collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams
- Building strong relationships with clients, contractors and project partners
- Preparing fee proposals and contributing to business development opportunities
- Mentoring and supporting junior and graduate engineers as the team grows
- Attending site inspections, project meetings and industry events as a company representative
About you
- Around 5+ years’ experience in building services (HVAC) design
- An Australian recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant trade background
- Professional registration such as CPEng, NER, RPEQ or a QBCC Designer Licence, or eligibility to obtain
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, the National Construction Code and relevant industry codes
- Proficiency in Revit and CAD for design and documentation
- A solid understanding of electrical, fire and hydraulic disciplines
- Experience engaging directly with clients and project stakeholders
- Clear written and verbal communication, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- A progressive mindset and a genuine passion for technical accuracy, teamwork and great client outcomes
- Full working rights in Australia with no restrictions
Highly regarded
- Experience in the health, defence or major infrastructure sectors, or a keen interest in developing in these areas
Why join?
This is a collaborative, relationship-driven consultancy where curiosity is encouraged, initiative is backed and shared accountability is part of the culture. You will have the autonomy to run your own projects, the support of experienced leaders, and a clear path to keep growing, whether that’s towards senior leadership, registration or business development.
