Job Summary

BDC is looking for a Fire Engineer toacts as the primary person for all fire detection and suppression systems within the data center, ensuring 100% operational readiness through hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance supervision, and flawless execution of commissioning activities. Responsible for the entire lifecycle of fire infrastructure—from developing system architectures and SOPs to managing vendor compliance and spare parts—this role requires strict adherence to Change Control and safety protocols in a critical environment. Beyond technical oversight, the engineer must provide 24/7 incident support, ensuring rigorous compliance with customer SLAs and local regulatory standards to perform the continuous protection of facility assets.

Responsibilities:

  • System Architecture & Design: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to develop sequences of operation, system architectures, and ensure all fire system as-built documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Critical Maintenance Oversight: Lead the day-to-day inspection and maintenance of fire detection (VESDA/Smoke), suppression (Gas/Sprinkler), fire pumps, and monitoring panels to ensure 100% operational readiness.
  • Hands-on Troubleshooting: Perform technical fault analysis and hands-on equipment inspections to resolve issues internally before escalating to external vendors or OEM specialists.
  • Vendor & Commissioning Management: Supervise third-party vendors to ensure strict adherence to work method statements and participate in testing and commissioning for new facility integrations.
  • Compliance & Safety Standards: Develop and implement fire safety policies and maintenance standards that comply with local laws, NFPA standards, and strict Change Control (LOTO) processes.
  • SLA & Incident Reporting: Ensure strict compliance with customer SLAs, including escalating incidents within 15 minutes and issuing detailed technical incident reports within 24 hours.
  • Technical Leadership & Training: Provide on-the-job training to junior staff, manage critical spare parts inventory, and represent the company as a technical expert in customer and vendor meetings.

Requirements:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5–8 years of experience in a Data Center or high-tech environment (e.g., semiconductor plants).
  • Technical Expertise: Strong hands-on knowledge of critical infrastructure, specifically fire protection systems, electrical systems, HVAC, standby power (Generators), and UPS.
  • Standards & Compliance: In-depth understanding of building management laws, safety regulations, emergency evacuation protocols, and environmental protection standards.
  • Documentation & Language: Proficient in English with the ability to write high-quality SOPs, Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and detailed technical incident reports.
  • Operational Availability: Ability to use CMMS software and Microsoft Office, with a commitment to 24/7 on-call support and onsite response for emergency incidents.

If you’re ready to be part of a global data centres organization that values growth, innovation, and equal opportunities, this could be the next step in your career. We believe in building a culture where everyone can develop their potential and contribute meaningfully.
