About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer – HVAC to join our engineering team in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in HVAC design for building projects, with a solid understanding of mechanical systems, engineering calculations, equipment selection, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Experience in building maintenance, renovation, refurbishment, and modification projects will be highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute HVAC design activities for commercial, residential, industrial, and other building projects.
• Develop HVAC concepts, calculations, layouts, detailed designs, and technical documentation.
• Perform HVAC load calculations, including cooling and heating load assessments.
• Select and size HVAC equipment, including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation fans, pumps, and associated equipment.
• Design and coordinate HVAC ductwork, chilled water piping, refrigerant piping, ventilation, and associated mechanical systems.
• Prepare HVAC plans, sections, schematics, equipment layouts, and detailed drawings.
• Develop equipment schedules, duct sizing, pipe sizing, and pressure-drop calculations.
• Review and verify HVAC design calculations and engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate HVAC systems with Architectural, Structural, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and other disciplines.
• Review ceiling layouts and coordinate HVAC services with architectural and MEP requirements.
• Ensure adequate plant room, shaft, riser, ceiling, and equipment space requirements are incorporated into the design.
• Review existing HVAC systems and provide engineering solutions for maintenance, refurbishment, replacement, modification, and upgrading works.
• Assess existing mechanical systems and recommend suitable improvements and energy-efficient solutions.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, equipment selections, method statements, and technical submissions.
• Respond to RFIs, technical queries, and design-related issues from clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical recommendations for HVAC installation and maintenance works.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Ensure HVAC designs comply with applicable Saudi Building Code (SBC), ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, local authority requirements, and project specifications.
• Support preparation of technical reports, specifications, BOQs, schedules, and design documentation.
• Review drawings and technical deliverables prepared by junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Monitor design deliverables and ensure compliance with project schedules and quality requirements.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
• 8–12+ years of relevant experience in HVAC design and building services.
• Strong experience in HVAC design for building projects.
• Proven experience in HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork, chilled water systems, ventilation, and mechanical services.
• Experience in building maintenance, renovation, refurbishment, or HVAC modification projects will be an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC design principles, engineering calculations, and applicable standards.
• Knowledge of Saudi Building Code and Saudi authority requirements is preferred.
• Experience working with engineering consultants is preferred.
• Strong multidisciplinary coordination skills.
• Ability to independently manage HVAC design assignments from concept through detailed design.
• Good technical communication and problem-solving skills.
• Candidates available for immediate joining are strongly preferred.

Software Skills

Proficiency in relevant engineering and design software, including:

• AutoCAD
• Revit MEP
• HAP / TRACE or equivalent HVAC load calculation software
• Navisworks – preferred
• BIM coordination experience will be an added advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be a technically strong HVAC Design Engineer with extensive building-services experience and the ability to independently deliver HVAC designs, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and provide practical engineering solutions for both new-build and maintenance/renovation projects.

Candidates with Saudi Arabia / GCC project experience and knowledge of local authority requirements will be preferred.
