Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

Job Purpose

Dinga Business Solutions is seeking a legally registered Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) with proven experience in Commercial/ Industrial HVAC design, commissioning, VRV/VRF systems, Central Plant, mechanical ventilation and ductwork.

Professional registration: Active registration with ECSA as PrTechEng or PrEng

Experience required: 3+ years of post-registration experience with ECSA

Minimum educational requirements: Btech Mechanical Engineering and/ or Bsc or BEng Mechanical Engineering

Key Responsibilities

• Execute and comply with the 6 standard project stages outlined by the Engineering Council of South Africa and the Project Road Map/ PROCSA guidelines

• Designing, analyzing, and managing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and related building systems to ensure optimal thermal comfort, energy efficiency and safety

• System design and sizing: perform heating and cooling load calculations, thermal modelling, and energy simulations using the necessary tools.

• Layout and documentation: Create 2D and 3D schematics, ductwork layouts, and piping diagrams using relevant software

• Evaluate, specify, and select primary mechanical equipment, including package AC units, chillers, boilers, pumps and sound attenuators.

• Work closely with related parties to integrate HVAC systems into overall building designs and avoid spatial clashes

• Ensure that all designs and installations meet local building code, energy guidelines and industry standards

-Prepare Bill of Quantities and Bill of Materials, evaluate vendor bids, review technical data sheets and contribute to cost and time estimates

• Conduct site inspections, review construction progress, participate in factory acceptance tests and/ or site acceptance tests
