Fontes is recruiting on behalf of a Singapore-based deep-tech company that designs and operates hovering-class autonomous underwater vehicles used to inspect and safeguard subsea infrastructure across the maritime, energy and defence sectors. Job Scope

You will report directly to the Hardware Lead. Your days will involve frequent contact with a multi-disciplinary team, and you should be equally at home at sea trials and at a desk in the office. This role is based in Singapore.

●      Design and build the overall mechanical systems for my client's hovering-class autonomous underwater platforms

●      Design mechanical components, mechanisms and electronics housings in CAD

●      Run finite element analysis on design components to assess structural integrity and stress failure

●      Draft 2D drawings for fabrication and assembly

●      Assemble and test your mechanical components in the workshop and in real-world conditions

●      Head out to sea to test and evaluate completed mechanical designs and other robotic systems

●      Gather user requirements together with the management team and customers

●      Set up test procedures for mechanical quality control and regulatory compliance

Desired Qualities and Skillsets

●      A B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering, or comparable experience

●      0–3 years in mechanical product design, from concept through to delivery to customers

●      Proficient in SolidWorks or an equivalent engineering CAD package

●      Hands-on with prototyping and a range of manufacturing methods — 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, welding, composites and so on

●      Experienced with FEA and CFD simulation tools such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, OpenFOAM or equivalent

●      Familiarity with corrosion-control and thermal-design methods is a plus
