Mechanical Engineering Manager

Not every CTO role gives you the opportunity to engineer what comes next. This one does.

Based in the Fochville area, you will lead engineering, manufacturing, R&D and technology for an international, technically driven mining operation — with the mandate to turn innovation into commercially successful, real-world solutions.

This is a significant executive appointment reporting directly to the CEO. The challenge is bigger than managing a technical function: it is about shaping the organisation's future technological advantage .

Own the technical strategy and turn it into execution.

That means:

• Building a sustainable pipeline of new technologies and products.
• Commercialising engineering innovation.
• Driving manufacturing excellence and scalability.
• Advancing automation, mechanisation and digital technology.
• Making sound capital and technology investment decisions.
• Leading senior engineering, manufacturing and R&D teams.
• Connecting technical excellence with commercial performance.

This role suits a seasoned Mechanical Engineer and executive leader who still thinks like an engineer but understands how technology creates business value.

You'll need:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Significant senior engineering and executive leadership experience.
• Strong exposure to manufacturing, R&D and technology development.
• Proven ability to move innovation from idea to practical application and commercial value .
• Commercial and financial judgement.
• Experience in mining, drilling, heavy industrial or project-driven engineering environments will be highly regarded.
• Comfort working in a hands-on, entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility for international travel and operational demands.

Package: R3 million – R4 million CTC per annum, excluding STI and LTI. The final offer will depend on qualifications, experience and skills.
