JOB DESCRIPTION – MECHANICAL FITTER

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to handle the maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of EOT, Gantry, and other industrial cranes to ensure safe and smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform regular preventive and breakdown maintenance of EOT and Gantry cranes.
• Inspect, repair, and replace mechanical components, including motors, gearboxes, brakes, bearings, couplings, hoists, wire ropes, and pulleys.
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical faults in crane systems.
• Carry out lubrication, alignment, adjustment, and servicing of crane components.
• Assist in the installation, dismantling, and commissioning of crane equipment.
• Inspect crane hooks, wheels, limit mechanisms, and other critical components for wear and damage.
• Maintain maintenance records and report major faults to the concerned supervisor.
• Follow safety procedures during maintenance and repair activities.
• Coordinate with electrical maintenance staff whenever required.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• ITI in Fitter Trade or equivalent technical qualification.
• 2–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in EOT/Gantry crane maintenance.
• Practical knowledge of crane mechanisms, hoists, gearboxes, brakes, bearings, and wire rope systems.
• Ability to identify mechanical faults and perform repairs independently.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance and industrial safety practices.
• Ability to work in a steel plant, warehouse, or industrial environment.

Preferred Candidate

Candidates with hands-on experience in EOT cranes, industrial material-handling equipment, and breakdown maintenance will be preferred.
