THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client, based at the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, is looking for qualified mechanical fitters who have had experience working in (fixed) industrial plants such as manufacturing, mining, wastewater or energy. Developing staff who want to learn and grow is a priority, as is health and safety.

THE ROLE
Working within a team of mechanical fitters, you will be completing planned and breakdown maintenance on a variety of industrial components ensuring that the plant keeps operating at its impressive capacity. Your day-to-day will include maintenance and repairs of pumps, mechanical seals, valves, conveyors, high pressure steam and gas turbine equipment, elevatored platforms and cranes as well as bearing work and equipment alignment.

ABOUT YOU

• Hold a mechanical fitter qualification (diesel fitters may be considered if you have experience in industrial plants vs workshop only).
• Demonstrated experience in fixed plant maintenance.
• Proven experience in the maintenance and overhaul pumps, turbines, mills, fans and related rotating equipment.
• Have exposure to the following: conveyors, pressure vessels, lifts, cranes, gearboxes, mechanical seals, valves, flanges, bearings, or ball mills.
• Be comfortable at heights from time to time.
• Able to read drawings.
• Effective problem-solving skills.
• Welding skills (advantageous but not essential)
• Experience working in environments where Health and Safety is paramount is essential.
• Current forklift, dogging and rigging licences/tickets are highly regarded.
