More than just managing workshop operations, you'll play a key role in developing the next generation of tradespeople through training, coaching, and hands-on support.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise day-to-day workshop activities.
  • Train, mentor, and develop apprentices in welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Upskill workshop personnel to improve capability, productivity, and quality.
  • Ensure all fabrication and welding work is completed to required specifications and standards.
  • Interpret drawings and welding procedures.
  • Monitor workmanship and provide technical guidance to workshop staff.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture.
  • Coordinate workflow and ensure projects are delivered on time.

About you

  • Hold relevant trade Diploma, Certificate or background; comparable to the Australian standard with 3 years relevant full-time trade experience.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a leadership or similar role.
  • Extensive experience in structural steel fabrication and tank construction.
  • Strong pipe fitting and welding experience, including weld inspection knowledge.
  • Excellent understanding of welding procedures, welding standards, and quality requirements.
  • Proven experience leading workshop teams or supervising tradespeople.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, train, and mentor apprentices and tradesmen.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.

Benefits

  • Permanent full-time employment with long-term job security.
  • Competitive pay rate of $56.00 to $58.00 per hour (flat rate).
  • Company vehicle available for work-related use.
  • Stable and growing business with a strong pipeline of work.
  • Supportive team environment.
  • Leadership role with the opportunity to make a genuine impact.
  • Opportunity to develop the next generation of tradespeople.
