Mechanical HVAC Estimator

Key responsibilities:

• Review architectural, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Complete detailed quantity take-offs for HVAC and mechanical services.
• Prepare equipment, ductwork, pipework, grilles, controls, electrical and associated materials schedules.
• Prepare supplier and subcontractor enquiry packages and assist with obtaining quotations.
• Compare supplier quotations and identify exclusions, qualifications and scope gaps.
• Prepare detailed estimating workbooks, cost plans and tender breakdowns.
• Assist with equipment selections and check compliance with project schedules and specifications.
• Identify tender risks, discrepancies, missing information and potential variations.
• Prepare tender clarifications, exclusions and scope summaries for management review.
• Review addenda and revise estimates accordingly.
• Maintain tender registers, pricing records and historical cost information.
• Produce basic drawing mark-ups and measurements where required.
• Work closely with management, with all final pricing and tender submissions subject to management approval.

Required skills:

• Demonstrated HVAC or mechanical-services estimating experience.
• Strong understanding of ductwork, air-conditioning systems, ventilation, refrigeration pipework, controls and associated electrical works.
• Ability to interpret Australian construction drawings, specifications and equipment schedules.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with estimating and electronic take-off software.
• Experience with Bluebeam Revu is preferred.
• AutoCAD or Revit experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Strong written English and ability to prepare clear tender clarifications.
• High attention to detail and strong numerical ability.
• Ability to work independently and meet tender deadlines.
• Familiarity with Australian HVAC terminology, standards and construction practices would be highly advantageous.
