Mechanical / Industrial Application Engineer

The Application Engineer provides technical and engineering support for the evaluation, selection, and application of industrial equipment. This includes reviewing customer requirements and system operating parameters, recommending suitable configurations, and assisting with equipment selection and sizing. The position requires proficiency in engineering calculations, technical drawing interpretation, and the identification and resolution of application-related challenges, along with the ability to communicate technical information effectively to a variety of audiences.

Additional responsibilities include preparing technical quotations, supporting specialized and custom-engineered solutions, assisting with customer and internal technical inquiries, maintaining product and manufacturing documentation, and investigating equipment performance or application concerns. Success in this position requires analytical thinking, sound technical judgment, strong organizational skills, and effective collaboration.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, with at least two years of engineering experience involving valves, pumps, fluid-control systems, or process equipment.
• Ability to assess system requirements, including operating pressure, temperature, flow conditions, fluid properties, and material suitability, to determine appropriate equipment selections.
• Knowledge of industrial fluid-handling materials and components, including metallic materials, elastomers, sealing elements, and seats.
• Experience supporting customers or internal stakeholders through technical consultation, equipment recommendations, application reviews, or troubleshooting activities.
• Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, engineering drawings, equipment specifications, datasheets, and related technical documentation, including the use of 3D visualization tools.
• Understanding of fluid mechanics and equipment performance calculations, including flow coefficients, pressure losses, flow rates, and sizing methodologies.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and compliance requirements, including ASME, API, NACE, CE, and PED.
• Ability to independently prioritize technical assignments, coordinate multiple requests, and deliver work within established timelines.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Background in valve engineering, mechanical product design, or the development of fluid-handling equipment.
• Experience creating or maintaining technical resources such as application manuals, installation guidance, sizing references, product documentation, or troubleshooting materials.
• Familiarity with ERP, MRP, or product lifecycle management (PLM) platforms.
• Experience delivering customer-facing technical presentations, conducting product demonstrations, providing training, or assisting sales teams with technical requirements.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD platforms or other mechanical engineering design applications.
• Experience using engineering software, equipment configuration platforms, and calculation tools to support product selection, sizing, and application engineering activities.
