CDM Recruitment is working with a major engineering and manufacturing business in Newcastle to recruit an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician.

This is a hands-on maintenance role working across a substantial manufacturing site, covering reactive and preventative maintenance, breakdowns, fault finding and equipment improvement.

The shift pattern is a major benefit: five 12-hour day shifts and five 12-hour night shifts across a 21-day cycle, giving you 15 days off in every 21 with no weekend working.

The role:

• Reactive, planned and preventative mechanical maintenance
• Mechanical fault finding and breakdown response
• Maintenance of manufacturing and production equipment
• Hydraulic and pneumatic fault finding
• Root cause analysis and equipment reliability improvements
• Supporting machinery installation and commissioning
• Continuous improvement and downtime reduction

What we're looking for:

• Time-served Mechanical Maintenance Technician
• Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
• Maintenance experience within manufacturing or engineering
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
• Hydraulic and pneumatic experience
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• HNC or equivalent advantageous

Package:

• £47k basic + overtime and annual bonus
