Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

About the Role

Applying your knowledge and capability to lead maintenance activities in the cane receivals and crushing area to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment and machinery.

Key areas of responsibility:

Safety Management

·      Ensure work is performed in accordance with safety procedures and regulations.

·      Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings with your Team

·      Verification of permits to work, isolations, lockout/tagout (LOTO) and risk assessments are completed.

·      Investigation of incidents and implement corrective actions

Maintenance Planning and Execution

·      Supervision of maintenance activities in AOR

·      Coordinate shutdowns, turnarounds, and equipment overhauls

·      Completion of work orders to quality standards.  Coordinate external service providers and contractors including contractor management and evaluation of work

·      Monitor equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities

·      Review engineering drawings, manuals and technical documentation

Team Leadership

·       Lead the Team to optimise the operational performance of AOR

·       Assign daily work schedules and priorities

·       Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support, coaching and training.

·       Conduct performance evaluations and competency assessments

Asset Reliability and Management

·      Monitor critical equipment and availability

·      Analyse failures and implement root cause corrective actions

·      Develop strategies to reduce downtime and maintenance costs, recommend equipment modifications and upgrades

·      Participate in commissioning and decommissioning activities

·      Ensure machinery operates within design parameters, maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment history and ensure compliance with statutory inspection requirements.  Prepare associated reports and documentation is properly maintained

·      Assist in developing maintenance schedules and asset management plans

About You

To be successful in this role, you have

·       relevant trade experience and/or tertiary qualifications in engineering / maintenance planning or project management (capital projects and contract delivery)

·       proficient experience with SAP PM would be an advantage

·       experience within heavy industry

·       strong leadership capability with significant exposure to maintenance and production environments

·       financial management competence

·       a sense of pride in your fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

·       excellent communication and teamwork skills

·       a core, belief that Safety comes first
