Mechanical, Maintenance Technician

Job Summary: Mechanical technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing systems and equipment within the plant. This position requires use of your mechanical knowledge to ensure the plant’s production equipment operates smoothly and safely. The mechanical tech must perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the plant does not deteriorate.

Job Responsibilities:

• Must be able to: read technical diagrams and blueprints; must be able to read calipers and dial indicators; Must be able to trouble-shoot equipment issues, identify hazards, defects, and make necessary repairs. Electrical skills a plus to assist with electrical issues.

Qualifications:

• Completion of mechanical apprenticeship, or 5 years combined experience working as a mechanic and/or mechanic’s helper I and industrial environment, or technical school training in the mechanical maintenance field with 18 months on the job experience, or military training in the mechanical field.
• Ability to install new equipment with assistance of supplier technicians.
• Applicant must possess good communication skills.
• Must possess good time management skills.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills and experience with maintenance tracking systems (CMMS preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if applicable).

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the production floor for extended periods
• Capability to lift and carry materials, tools, or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching to inspect equipment and products
• Good vision and hearing to monitor operations and identify issues
• Ability to work in environments with exposure to loud noises, vibration, or temperature fluctuations
• Use of safety gear such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection as required
• Flexibility to work different shifts or overtime to meet production deadlines

Work Environment:

• May be required to work evenings, weekends, or be on-call for emergency repairs.
