Mechanical R&D Senior Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Convert R&D ideas, sketches and engineering requirements into complete 3D concepts, assemblies, and manufacturable designs.
• Design machines, mechanisms, fixtures, tooling, production equipment, automation structures, and prototype components.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, exploded views, engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Perform design calculations and engineering studies required to validate mechanical concepts.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles, material selection, tolerancing, fit and assembly considerations.
• Use 3D scanning and reverse-engineering techniques to modify, reproduce, or improve existing machine components where required.
• Perform mechanical simulations and design validation using appropriate FEA/CFD or multiphysics tools.
• Develop studies for structural strength, deformation, thermal behavior, flow, pressure, motion or other relevant engineering parameters.
• Build virtual prototypes before physical manufacturing to reduce development time, cost, and design iterations.
• Develop digital-twin concepts for machines, equipment, and selected production processes.
• Support virtual factory / factory-layout / process simulation and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
• Create 3D representations of machines and production systems that can be linked with operational/automation data.
• Work jointly with the Automation & IoT Engineer to connect the mechanical model, machine data, controls, and operating logic.
• Support commissioning and prototype testing by translating simulation results into physical design improvements.
• Maintain CAD libraries, design standards, revision control, and technical documentation.

Required Technical Competencies

• Strong 3D CAD and mechanical design capability.
• SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA V5, or equivalent; strong proficiency in at least one major CAD platform is required.
• Machine design, mechanisms, assemblies, shafts, bearings, fasteners, structures, and basic mechanical engineering calculations.
• Engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturing documentation.
• Simulation capability using one or more of: COMSOL Multiphysics, ANSYS/ANSYS Polyflow, SolidWorks Simulation, Autodesk Simulation, or equivalent.
• Ability to interpret simulation results and convert them into design decisions.
• 3D scanning / reverse engineering and CAD modification.
• 3D visualization and presentation tools such as Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp or equivalent are an advantage.
• Understanding of digital twins, virtual commissioning, factory simulation, and Industry 4.0 concepts.
• Ability to collaborate with controls/automation engineers and understand machine I/O, sensors, and operating sequences at a working level.
• Strong problem-solving, visualization, prototyping, and technical communication skills.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Machine Design, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, machine design, CAD/3D modeling, engineering simulation, product development, or digital manufacturing.
• Demonstrated experience taking concepts from sketches/requirements to detailed 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and prototypes.
