Mechanical Shift Engineer (Port Harcourt)

Job Title: Mechanical Shift Engineer

Reports to: Mechanical Lead

Shift Pattern: Rotating Shifts (2D 2N 2O)

Location: Port Harcourt

Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for ensuring the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all port equipment. This role requires hands-on experience in preventative maintenance, fault identification and rapid response to breakdowns.

Expected skills

Technical skills:

· Robust knowledge of Operation & maintenance of following MHS equipment.

· Conveyor belts, Portal Reclaimer, Ship Loaders, Belt Bucket Elevators, Diesel / Gas generators.

· Utilities such as pumps, compressors, STP etc.

· Expertise in mechanical activities e.g. welding / gas cutting, machining, rigging etc.

· Familiar with PTW systems such as Hot work, Height work, Confined space, LOTO etc.

Soft skills:

· Functional knowledge of computer operating systems such as MS office, e-mails etc.

· Familiar with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) software.

· Good problem-solving skills.

· Strong verbal & written communication skills.

· Ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

· Preventive & corrective maintenance of all plant equipment

· Inspection of all plant equipment

· Scheduling and allocation of job

· Managing shift technicians / operators team

· Assist general shift team during major repairs

· Issuing work permits for all jobs

· Keeping maintenance history

Requirements:

· Education: Graduate in Mechanical Engineering

· Experience: 10+ Years of O & M experience in Material Handling System (Port experience preferred).
