What they need

Mechanical Supervisor

£55,000 basic salary | £70,000+ OTE plus overtime

Based in Enfield, North London, with sites across London and the South East

Are you an experienced mechanical professional ready to take a leading role in a varied and established M&E business? Join Munns Limited and combine hands-on engineering with responsibility for managing engineers, delivering projects and building strong customer relationships.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will have overall responsibility for the mechanical side of the business, with the opportunity to make a direct contribution to how work is planned, managed and delivered.

About Munns Limited

Munns Limited is a mechanical and electrical contractor based in Enfield, North London. We employ approximately 30 engineers across electrical, gas, air conditioning, plumbing and planned preventative maintenance disciplines.

Our work ranges from planned and reactive maintenance to larger contracts exceeding £1 million, with turnover split approximately equally between maintenance and larger contracts.

Our clients include Haringey, Camden and Waltham Forest councils, Kent County Council, Milton Keynes Council, the City of London and G4S. We also deliver works for the Metropolitan Police and the NHS across numerous sites throughout London.

Our mechanical work offers genuine variety: from boiler and pipework repairs, radiator and valve replacements, and heating and hot and cold water pipework installations, through to complex boiler room replacements and complete M&E upgrades.

The role

This role combines site supervision, practical engineering and office-based project management, with approximately 50% of your time on site and 50% at our Enfield office.

Sites may be located anywhere in the South East of England, although most work is within London and the Home Counties.

On site, you will:

Organise, supervise and manage mechanical works.

Work alongside engineers or independently where required, remaining involved on the tools for a proportion of your working week.

Attend customer meetings and maintain strong working relationships.

Carry out site visits to gather information for quotations and tenders.

At our Enfield office, you will:

Prepare quotations and tenders.

Plan and manage works, including preparing method statements and risk assessments.

Produce reports and review engineers’ reports and certification.

Discuss progress, upcoming works and business opportunities with the directors and other supervisors.

Your responsibilities

You will work closely with our helpdesk staff and directors to ensure the smooth running of the mechanical side of the business. You will coordinate engineers and works on site, from the office and over the phone, maintaining clear communication with customers and colleagues.

Working directly with the Managing Director, you will also contribute to larger tenders and the management of larger projects.

Some works require evening or weekend attendance. You must be willing to accommodate these additional hours when required, for which you will be paid.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who combines strong mechanical knowledge with proven experience of managing works, leading engineers and working with customers.

You will need:

Familiarity with current mechanical and gas regulations.

Proven experience managing works and engineers.

Experience working directly with customers.

Computer literacy.

A clean driving licence.

A professional, presentable manner.

Familiarity with all aspects and implications of health and safety relevant to the role.

Qualifications

Required: NVQ / SVQ in Mechanical Engineering Services.

Preferred: Gas Safe qualification.

An advantage: CSCS / SMSTS.

Why join Munns?

£55,000 basic salary, with £70,000+ OTE plus overtime.

A varied role combining practical engineering, supervision and project management.

Direct access to the Managing Director and involvement in larger tenders and projects.

Responsibility for the mechanical side of an established M&E contractor.

A broad range of maintenance and project work for local authorities, healthcare and other public sector clients.

If you enjoy taking ownership, supporting engineers and seeing work through from initial site visit to completion, we would welcome your application.
