We currently have a full-time permanent opportunity for a Mechanical Systems Engineer to join us in our Engineering Team in Balcatta to support the development and manufacturing of our new and existing engines, hybrid systems and more.

Key responsibilities

• Developing and releasing mechanical components, parts and sub-systems in accordance with the Product Development Process, engineering standards, customer requirements and applicable regulatory obligations
• Applying structured engineering methods such as design reviews, GD&T, tolerance analysis, design for manufacture and assembly, DFMEA, value engineering and risk management
• Translating product and system-level requirements into clear component specifications, design inputs, interfaces, acceptance criteria and technical documentation
• Producing and reviewing engineering designs, calculations and analyses with appropriate consideration of cost, tolerances, materials, manufacturing processes, assembly requirements, serviceability and product life-cycle needs
• Planning and supporting analytical and physical design verification and validation activities, including defining test requirements, reviewing results, producing reports and resolving identified design issues
• Supporting component procurement by preparing technical documentation, engaging with suppliers, reviewing inspection / test data and resolving identified design issues

About you

• Degree Qualification in Engineering
• 3+ years' experience gained across areas of product design, development, component engineering and project management disciplines
• Strong skills in the mechanical design and development of components, assemblies and sub-systems
• Competent in applying GD&T, tolerance analysis and fit assessment during designs and reviews
• Sound understanding of engineering materials, manufacturing processes, surface treatments and component selection
• Familiar with engineering problem solving techniques; 8D or 7-step problem solving
• Experience in design verification and validation, including test planning, test methods and results analysis
• Strong problem-solving skills, including root-cause analysis, non-conformance investigation and corrective action development
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through complex technical issues in a structured manner
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
