Mechanical Technical Team Leader

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Technical Team Leader to lead and coordinate the mechanical technical team and ensure the successful technical delivery of construction projects in accordance with approved designs, specifications, codes, standards, and project requirements.

The role is responsible for providing technical leadership across mechanical works, coordinating with engineering, construction, procurement, QA/QC, commercial, and project management teams, and ensuring that technical issues are identified and resolved efficiently.

The Mechanical Technical Team Leader will play a key role in reviewing technical documentation, coordinating design and construction requirements, managing technical queries, and supporting the project team from design development through construction and handover.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead and supervise the mechanical technical team and coordinate daily technical activities.
• Provide technical guidance and support to mechanical engineers, coordinators, and site teams.
• Review mechanical engineering requirements and ensure compliance with approved project specifications and applicable standards.
• Monitor technical deliverables and ensure they are completed accurately and within project deadlines.
• Identify technical risks, constraints, and design issues and coordinate appropriate solutions.
• Support the Project Manager and Engineering Manager in resolving complex mechanical technical matters.
• Review mechanical drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment schedules, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate and review mechanical shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, technical submissions, and calculations.
• Ensure designs are practical, constructible, and aligned with project requirements.
• Review design changes and assess their technical implications on construction.
• Coordinate design development and technical clarifications with consultants, designers, clients, and subcontractors.
• Review and respond to RFIs and technical queries related to mechanical works.
• HVAC and ventilation systems.
• Chilled water systems.
• Plumbing and drainage systems.
• Fire fighting systems.
• Domestic water and hot water systems.
• Pumps and mechanical equipment.
• BMS interfaces and mechanical controls.
• Smoke extraction and pressurization systems.
• Fuel, compressed air, or other specialist mechanical systems where applicable.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
• 6-8 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering and construction.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a technical leadership or senior engineering role .
• Strong experience in building construction, MEP contracting, infrastructure, or similar projects.
• Proven experience in coordinating mechanical design and construction activities.
• Experience working with consultants, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
