About the role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanical Technician to join the engineering team at MITSUI COPPER FOIL (MALAYSIA) SDN BHD. This is a full-time position based in Shah Alam, Selangor. As a Mechanical Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimising our manufacturing equipment and mechanical systems. Your technical expertise will be essential to ensuring smooth operations, minimising downtime, and supporting the production of high-quality copper foil products. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced industrial machinery and contribute directly to the efficiency and reliability of our operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and servicing of mechanical equipment and machinery on production lines
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions
• Conduct preventative maintenance schedules to ensure equipment operates at optimal performance and reliability
• Assist in the installation, assembly, and commissioning of new mechanical equipment and systems
• Monitor equipment performance, collect data, and report on maintenance activities and mechanical issues
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve operational challenges and improve mechanical efficiency
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance work, spare parts usage, and equipment repairs
• Perform minor repairs and modifications to mechanical components using hand tools and precision instruments
• Support the implementation of health and safety standards within the mechanical operations area

What we're looking for

• Recognised qualification in mechanical engineering, mechanical technician training
• Proven experience working as a mechanical technician or in a similar maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment operation, and maintenance procedures
• Proficiency in using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial environment
• Good communication skills and the ability to document maintenance work accurately
• Flexibility to work shifts, if required, and willingness to undertake on-call duties when necessary
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental procedures relevant to industrial operations
• Preferred experience with copper foil manufacturing, electronic equipment, or similar precision manufacturing processes
