Mechanical Technician

Role & responsibilities

* Install and commission diesel generators, construction equipment, stabilizers and related industrial machinery.

* Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and maintain equipment at customer sites and in the workshop.

* Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of heavy equipment and power systems.

* Conduct equipment inspections and prepare technical service reports.

* Provide technical support and guidance to customers on proper equipment operation.

* Ensure all service work is completed safely, efficiently and as per manufacturer standards.

* Coordinate with the service department for spare parts requirements and warranty claims.

* Travel across Uganda and, when required, neighbouring countries for field service assignments.

Preferred candidate profile

* Qualification: Diploma/ITI in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related technical field.

* Experience: 4-5+ years in installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of industrial equipment.

* Preferred experience: Diesel generators, construction/material-handling equipment, or industrial electrical systems.

* Industry background: Generator manufacturing/production or field technician experience with a dealer/distributor.

* Technical skills: Diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, control panels, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams.

* Key skills: Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and customer-service abilities.

*Work style: Self-driven, disciplined, independent, and willing to travel extensively.

* Advantage: Previous work experience in Africa.

* Age: 30 years and above.
