MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

About the role

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for carrying out maintenance, repair, overhaul, installation, troubleshooting, and alignment of pumps, motors, chillers, cooling tower equipment, and other rotating machinery. The role includes bearing replacement, mechanical seal replacement, chiller shaft seal replacement, precision shaft alignment, and ensuring all HVAC and chiller systems operate safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble chilled water, condenser water, and centrifugal pumps
• Replace bearings, sleeves, wear rings, couplings, gaskets, and mechanical seals
• Perform complete pump overhauls and testing after repairs
• Troubleshoot vibration, noise, overheating, leakage, and performance issues
• Remove and install pump and motor bearings using proper tools and methods
• Replace mechanical seals on pumps and rotating equipment
• Perform laser alignment and dial indicator alignment on pumps, motors, fans, and chillers
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water-cooled and air-cooled chillers
• Diagnose mechanical faults and recommend corrective actions
• Prepare service reports and maintenance records

About you

• ITI, NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent Mechanical Engineering qualification
• At least 2 to 5 years experience in pumps, chillers, HVAC, or rotating equipment maintenance
• Skilled in bearing replacement, mechanical seal replacement, pump overhauls, and shaft alignment
• Ability to read drawings and use precision measuring instruments
• Good teamwork, communication, and troubleshooting skills
• Follow all safety regulations, risk assessments, and permit-to-work requirements
• Use proper PPE and maintain good housekeeping practices
