Mechanical Technician

About the role

The role involves providing engineering support to the Production Department and managing mechanical repair and maintenance operations. The incumbent will be in charge of all mechanical repair and maintenance works, troubleshooting machine breakdowns, and ensuring machinery is kept in optimal working condition.

Key responsibilities

• Be conversant with company's products, other relevant procedures, quality, safety and environment policy
• Assist the Services Manager in providing engineering support to the Production Department
• Assign, supervise, monitor and motivate maintenance work team in machinery repair, maintenance, modification, fabrication and installation works
• Ensure that Work instructions are being implemented and maintained
• Maintain adequate and relevant machinery spare parts
• Ensure parts issued, purchases and work performed are properly recorded and filed
• Troubleshoot and identify the cause of machine breakdown and report to the Services Engineer (Mechanical)
• Provide timely machine breakdown reports to superior as required
• Liaise with Production, Inventory Control and Purchasing Department to ensure prompt machinery repairs to meet production requirements
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure safe and conducive work environment

About you

• Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant working experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Good knowledge and hands-on experience in machinery repair, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, fabrication, modification and installation
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, public holidays or shifts when required for breakdowns and maintenance activities
