JOB DESCRIPTION – MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

Department: Technical / Service & Maintenance Reports To: Technical Supervisor / Operations In-Charge

Job Purpose

To carry out mechanical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial and construction rack-and-pinion elevators, hoists, tower cranes, and related industrial and construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial and construction elevators, rack-and-pinion systems, hoists, tower cranes, and related lifting equipment.

Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical components, including racks, pinions, gearboxes, drive assemblies, bearings, shafts, couplings, rollers, and braking systems.

Carry out equipment installation, assembly, dismantling, alignment, and commissioning at workshops and customer sites.

Diagnose mechanical faults, identify root causes, and perform repairs to ensure safe and reliable equipment operation.

Inspect equipment for mechanical wear, damage, misalignment, abnormal vibration, noise, and other defects.

Attend customer-site breakdowns and coordinate repairs, spare parts, and technical support with the relevant team.

Complete maintenance checklists and service reports, and report major defects or safety concerns promptly.

Follow manufacturer instructions, company HSE procedures, and applicable safety requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

ITI, diploma, or equivalent technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related trade.

Minimum 4–6 years of relevant hands-on mechanical maintenance experience. Candidates with less than 4 years of experience should not apply.

Experience with industrial and construction elevators, particularly rack-and-pinion systems, and hoists is highly preferred.

Experience in tower cranes, industrial lifting equipment, gearboxes, braking systems, and mechanical drive assemblies is an advantage.

Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals and perform maintenance safely.

UAE industrial or construction equipment experience is preferred.

Required Skills

Mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, equipment installation, assembly and

dismantling, fault diagnosis, and customer-site servicing.

General Requirement: Willingness to work in the workshop and at customer sites as required. All

safety-critical activities must be performed in accordance with applicable procedures, training, and

authorization.
