Mechanical Technician

A mechanical technician is a hands-on trade specialist who installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical equipment, machinery, and systems designed by engineers. [1, 2]Core Responsibilities

• Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on industrial machinery, pumps, motors, HVAC systems, or manufacturing equipment. [1, 2, 3]
• Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Inspect malfunctioning systems, run diagnostic tests, read technical manuals or blueprints, and identify the root causes of mechanical failures. [1, 2]
• Assembly & Installation: Assemble, calibrate, align, and commission new mechanical components or heavy machinery following engineering schematics.
• Engineering Support: Assist mechanical engineers with prototyping, testing, data analysis, and reporting on equipment performance.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow strict safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hazard control procedures, and OSHA standards.
• Documentation: Log maintenance tasks, parts replacements, and inspection results into a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of mechanical principles, hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment, and power tools.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly assess and fix unpredictable mechanical breakdowns under pressure.
• Reading Technical Plans: Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, CAD drawings, and assembly schematics.
• Physical Stamina & Dexterity: Capability to stand for long hours, lift heavy parts, and work in tight or elevated spaces.
• Communication: Clear reporting skills to update supervisors and collaborate with engineering teams.

Education & Experience

• Education: High school diploma or GED minimum; associate degree or technical certification in mechanical technology, industrial maintenance, or engineering technology.
• Experience: Often requires hands-on trade experience, apprenticeships, or specialized industrial/manufacturing background (ranging from entry-level to 3+ years for senior roles)

Pay: Php18,000.00 - Php21,000.00 per month
