Mechanical Technician (Welder)

Key responsibilities

• Perform welding and fabrication work according to drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

• Operate welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently.

• Carry out cutting, grinding, fitting, and assembly of metal components. Inspect welded joints to ensure quality and compliance with required standards.

• Repair and maintain damaged metal structures, machinery, and equipment as required.

• Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of welding machines and related tools.

• Assist in mechanical maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair works as assigned.

• Support maintenance and production activities by performing multi-skilled tasks beyond welding duties when necessary.

• Follow workplace safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Maintain good housekeeping and keep the work area clean and organized.

• Report equipment defects, safety hazards, and work progress to the supervisor.

• Cooperate with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations.

• Perform any other mechanical, maintenance, or related duties assigned by the supervisor or management from time to time.

Job Requirements

• Minimum SPM / Secondary School qualification or equivalent.

• Relevant welding certifications (SMAW, GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, 3G–6G positions) are an added advantage.

• At least 1–2 years of hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, plumbing, or mechanical maintenance work. (Fresh candidates with strong technical skills are welcome to apply).

• Ability to read technical drawings, piping layouts, and welding symbols. Knowledge of mechanical tools, industrial pumps (maintenance & troubleshooting), and general plumbing systems.

• Perform general welding, plumbing, and pump maintenance duties as assigned.

• Support plant maintenance activities and respond to emergency equipment issues.

• Strong adherence to safety standards and quality workmanship.

• Responsible, physically fit, and able to work independently or in a team.

• Willing to work shift rotations and overtime when required.
