Mechanical Technician/Blaster

The Mechanical Technician / Blaster is responsible for performing mechanical maintenance, equipment repair, surface preparation, and abrasive blasting activities. The role ensures that mechanical equipment is operating efficiently while maintaining quality workmanship and compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and machinery.
• Carry out abrasive blasting activities to prepare metal surfaces for coating, painting, or repair.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical components and equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, and technical specifications.
• Operate blasting equipment, power tools, and other mechanical tools safely and efficiently.
• Conduct equipment inspections and report defects or maintenance requirements.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with company procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping of work areas, tools, and equipment.
• Coordinate with supervisors and maintenance teams to ensure timely completion of assigned work.
• Perform other mechanical maintenance and blasting-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Mechanical Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or any related technical course.
• At least five (5) years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, industrial equipment, or abrasive blasting.
• Knowledgeable in mechanical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Experience in abrasive blasting and surface preparation is an advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Familiar with mechanical tools, power tools, and industrial equipment.
• Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and problem-solving skills.
• Willing to work on-site and render overtime when required.
