What they need

Mechanical Workshop Supervisor

Casual rate of $62–$65 per hour + super | Full Time | Monday to Friday

Looking for a leadership role without the intensity of a large commercial workshop?

We are looking for an experienced mechanical professional to step into a Workshop Supervisor role within a small, supportive workshop team.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced mechanic or supervisor who is ready for a more stable and structured working environment, while still having plenty of hands-on involvement and responsibility.

You’ll lead a small team of Heavy Duty Mechanics and Apprentices, coordinate day-to-day workshop activities and help keep a diverse range of plant, equipment and vehicles safe, reliable and operational.

What makes this role different?

  • Small, supportive team - great culture
  • Monday to Friday hours
  • A more structured and predictable working environment
  • An opportunity for an experienced mechanic to step into supervision
  • Ideal for a supervisor looking for a more sustainable pace without stepping away from the technical side
  • Support from an experienced manager
  • Opportunity to take on broader responsibility when required
  • A role where your experience and judgement are genuinely valued

The Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and supporting a small team of mechanics and apprentices
  • Coordinating daily workshop activities, repairs and maintenance
  • Remaining hands-on and providing technical guidance where required
  • Planning and prioritising maintenance and repairs
  • Ensuring safe work practices and workshop standards are maintained
  • Supporting the development and capability of workshop staff
  • Coordinating external contractors and monitoring work quality
  • Maintaining workshop and maintenance systems
  • Contributing to process improvements and maintenance planning
  • Providing support to management when required

About You

We are open to two types of candidates for this role:

An experienced supervisor looking for a stable, hands-on leadership position where they can use their experience without the intensity of a large-scale operation and a better work/life balance.

Or an experienced Senior Mechanic who is ready to take the next step into supervision and wants the opportunity to further develop their leadership capability.

You will ideally have:

  • Mechanical Trade Certificate
  • Current C Class and HR Class driver's licences
  • Strong experience in fleet, plant or heavy vehicle mechanical maintenance
  • Experience supervising a team, or the capability and confidence to step into supervision
  • Experience coordinating workshop activities and resources
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance practices and systems
  • Good Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel skills
  • Sound understanding of workplace safety
  • Strong organisation, problem-solving and communication skills

A role with room to breathe

If you're coming from a demanding commercial, mining, transport or heavy industry environment, this could be an opportunity to bring your experience into a role with more structure, stability and balance.

For an experienced Senior Mechanic, it also provides the chance to develop into a genuine supervisory role, take on greater responsibility and broaden your experience across workshop operations.

The role also provides an opportunity to move into a permanent full-time position within 12 months.

This role is ideally suited to someone seeking a 12-month casual engagement, however we are open to discussing other arrangements for the right person. If you are only considering a 12-month fixed-term or permanent opportunity, I’d still love to hear from you. Give me a call or send me an email to discuss the role.

Other offers great for you!
