Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Technician to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing high-quality resident care in a senior living facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical procedures, patient support, and healthcare documentation, with a focus on geriatric and special needs populations. Experience with electronic health records (EHR/August Health/Point Click Care), medication administration, and adherence to healthcare regulations is essential. The Medical Technician will play a vital role in ensuring resident safety, comfort, and well-being through skilled assistance and accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care activities including vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and personal hygiene assistance
• Support residents or patients with activities of daily living such as mobility, feeding (including tube feeding), and personal care
• Maintain accurate medical documentation using EHR systems like Epic or Cerner while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards
• Assist with mobility and manual handling of patients to prevent injury and promote safety
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff or healthcare providers
• Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s care, memory care needs, and behavioral management strategies
• Follow state healthcare regulations and facility policies to ensure safe and effective care delivery
• Maintain cleanliness of medical equipment and work environment in accordance with infection control protocols
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, caregivers, and physicians to coordinate patient care

Skills

• Proven experience working with geriatric patients or in senior living facilities; assisted living or nursing home experience highly preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification required
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as August Health or Point Click Care; experience with medical documentation is essential
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary while maintaining proper manual handling techniques
• Strong communication skills for caregiver communication and resident engagement
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or special needs is advantageous
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced healthcare environment
• Understanding of state healthcare regulations governing senior care.
