Media Teacher

Sacred Heart College is a Catholic, co-educational College for students in Years 7-12 located on the coast in Sorrento, Western Australia. The College has established an outstanding reputation for excellence within our Four Pillars – Spiritual, Academic, Cultural and Sport.

We are seeking a dedicated and highly engaging Media Teacher to join our College. This is a full time, 12-month fixed term position, commencing Term 1, 2027 (replacing a staff member on leave).

About the role: Reporting to the Head of Learning Area - The Arts, you will be a dynamic and creative Media Teacher who inspires students to think critically, create confidently and embrace the ever-evolving media landscape. You will empower students to explore new ideas, develop their creative voice and build the skills to engage with media in innovative and meaningful ways.

Responsibilities as a Media Teacher:

• The ability to teach lower school Media to students in years 7 – 10.
• The ability to teach Media – General to year 11 and 12 students would be advantageous.
• The ability to teach Digital Technologies and or another subject area would be advantageous.
• The ability to effectively manage a Pastoral Care Group (PCG).
• The ability to work collaboratively to build rapport with students, parents and all College employees to develop respectful, inclusive and positive working relationships.

What we are seeking:

• A dedicated and creative Media Teacher.
• A sound understanding of WA curriculum.
• Experience in writing and delivering differentiated programs in Media.
• The willingness and adaptability to apply new technologies and innovations to enhance student learning.
• The willingness to teach as part of an Arts team that goes above and beyond for each other and the students. This may involve assisting with extra-curricular activities, clubs, competitions or lunch time catch up sessions.
• Flexibility and adaptability to respond to a fast-paced working environment.
• An awareness and appreciation for the Catholic ethos of the College.

Desirable:

The ability to teach across another learning area would be advantageous.
