Medical Assistant

We are a growing outpatient medical practice in Plano seeking a reliable, professional, and patient-focused Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team. We are looking for someone who is organized, friendly, dependable, and comfortable working in a small practice where teamwork and excellent patient care are essential.

The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, takes initiative, and is comfortable balancing both clinical and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain vital signs, medication lists, and relevant medical history
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
• Perform blood draws and specimen collection
• Administer injections and vaccines as directed by the provider
• Perform EKGs, point-of-care testing, and other basic clinical procedures
• Assist the provider during patient visits and procedures as needed
• Process prescription refill requests and assist with prior authorizations
• Contact patients regarding laboratory results and provider instructions as directed
• Prepare and process laboratory orders and referrals
• Answer phones and assist patients with scheduling and general questions
• Verify patient demographic and insurance information
• Assist with check-in and check-out when needed
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
• Keep examination rooms clean, organized, and appropriately stocked
• Monitor clinical and medical supply inventory
• Follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection-control, and patient-safety requirements
• Assist with other clinical and administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant experience preferred
• Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required for an experienced candidate
• Phlebotomy experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable administering injections and obtaining vital signs
• Previous experience in primary care or an outpatient medical office is preferred
• Experience with electronic medical records
• Strong computer and communication skills
• Professional and courteous when interacting with patients
• Reliable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented
• Able to multitask in a busy clinical environment
• Able to work independently while also functioning well as part of a small team

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 28.0 – 34.0 per week
