Medical Assistant

Overview: Work directly with busy Orthopedic Surgeon in medical office environment. Assist in the running of Orthopedic Clinic, medical documentation, and clinic workflow. Excellent opportunity for a career in healthcare administration or for a pre-medical or pre-PA student to gain exposure to the medical field. Minimum one-year commitment required for students.

Responsibilities:

• Gather medical records for review by the physician to prepare for each patient encounter

• Take notes during patient encounters, documenting the patient’s history, physical exam, medical discussion and complete medical documentation for each patient encounter

• Become familiar with the electronic medical records system and relevant medical terminology

• Communicate with physicians, medical assistants, patients, and other office staff in a professional manner

• Assist with other clerical tasks under the supervision of the physician to ensure patient flow and improve physician productivity and efficiency

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required

• College degree or credits preferred

• Excellent writing skills.

• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills

• Excellent organizational skills

• Advanced computer proficiency
