Medical Assistant – Full-Time

Location: Sleep Disorder Center of Louisiana- Lake Charles

Compensation:  $17- $18 per hour

Schedule: Full-Time

Position Summary:

The Sleep Disorder Center of Louisiana is seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting our physicians and nurse practitioners in delivering high-quality care to patients with sleep-related health concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete initial patient evaluations, documenting:

  • Medication history

  • Medical, surgical, family, and social history

• Update patient information as needed

• Make, receive, and handle medically related phone calls as directed by the physician and/or nurse practitioner

• Call in prescription refills to pharmacies within 24 hours of patient request

• Answer and return all patient and/or family calls in a timely and professional manner

Qualifications:

• Experience: 3–5 years working as a Medical Assistant in a physician's office

• Certification: MA certification preferred, but not required

• Required: Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)

• Skills:

  • Proficient in taking vital signs and conducting medical history intake

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Team-oriented and adaptable to changing situations and new tasks
