What they need

About Defy Aesthetic:

Defy Aesthetic is a boutique medspa dedicated to providing personalized treatments and an exceptional patient experience. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and dependable Medical Assistant to support our providers and help maintain efficient daily clinical operations.

The ideal candidate is a proactive team player who takes initiative, anticipates the needs of providers and patients, and is willing to assist wherever needed. We are a small, collaborative team and value flexibility, professionalism, and a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support:

  • Prepare treatment rooms, equipment, and supplies for injectable and skincare procedures.
  • Assist medical providers before, during, and after patient treatments.
  • Obtain and document patient intake information and assist with consent paperwork.
  • Capture consistent, high-quality before-and-after patient photographs.
  • Assist with skin preparation and topical anesthetic application when legally permitted and appropriately supervised.
  • Review standardized pre- and post-treatment instructions with patients, referring clinical questions to the provider.
  • Clean, disinfect, organize, and restock treatment rooms between appointments.
  • Monitor clinical inventory and assist with ordering and maintaining supplies.
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and infection-control protocols.
  • Perform additional delegated clinical support tasks within Maryland regulations and established practice protocols.

Front Desk & Administrative Support:

  • Assist with patient check-in, checkout, scheduling, and answering phones as needed.
  • Help coordinate patient appointments, follow-ups, and rebooking.
  • Support daily office operations and administrative tasks based on practice needs.
  • Work collaboratively with all team members to ensure an organized, efficient, and welcoming environment.

Social Media Support:

  • Occasionally assist with capturing treatment content, before-and-after photos, and behind-the-scenes footage.
  • Support basic social media and marketing projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) or relevant clinical experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in dermatology, plastic surgery, medical aesthetics, or a similar medical setting is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional, reliable, and comfortable working in a patient-facing environment.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and anticipate needs without constant direction.
  • Must be a team player willing to assist with clinical, administrative, and front desk responsibilities as needed.
  • Comfortable learning new technology, electronic medical records, and office systems.
  • Interest in skincare and medical aesthetics preferred.
  • Must be willing to undergo an extensive pre-employment background check, conducted in accordance with applicable law.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys helping others, and understands that providing an exceptional patient experience is a team effort.

Our ideal candidate is someone who notices when a treatment room needs restocking, steps in to help the front desk when things get busy, and actively looks for ways to support the practice throughout the day.

A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn are just as important to us as previous experience.

Schedule & Benefits:

  • Approximately 32 hours per week
  • $23–$28 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
  • 401(k) retirement plan, subject to plan eligibility
