Medical Assistant

Independent Contractor Position — this is a 1099 contractor role, not a W-2 employee position.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient scheduling, appointments, and follow-up communications
• Conduct virtual patient intake and collect medical histories and insurance information
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Communicate test results, referrals, and treatment updates to patients on behalf of providers
• Serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, and medical staff
• Assist with drafting, formatting, and organizing medical documents and reports
• Coordinate with insurance companies and third-party providers as needed
• Provide reliable day-to-day administrative and clinical support to the medical team

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar healthcare role
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, or similar
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and confidentiality
• Knowledge of medical terminology, billing, and coding is a plus
• Comfortable working independently in a remote setting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related tools
