Responsibilities

• Perform clinical tasks such as taking patient histories, measuring vital signs, and assisting with physical examinations across various specialties including dermatology, internal medicine, urgent care, and hospital medicine.
• Collect specimens for laboratory testing, including phlebotomy procedures, and prepare samples according to protocols.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by physicians, ensuring adherence to safety standards and patient comfort.
• Maintain comprehensive medical documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, including accurate coding using ICD codes and detailed medical records management.
• Support patient intake processes by verifying insurance information, updating medical histories, and explaining procedures clearly to patients.
• Manage billing processes by submitting claims, following up on unpaid accounts, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Assist with hospital-based procedures in inpatient settings or trauma centers, including vital signs monitoring and patient care documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in emergency medicine or Level I/II trauma centers to deliver prompt and effective patient services.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical assisting within diverse clinical environments such as dermatology clinics, hospital wards, urgent care centers, or emergency departments.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and ICD coding standards.
• Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like EMR/EHR platforms for documentation and billing purposes.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred to ensure readiness for emergency situations.
• Demonstrated ability to perform phlebotomy accurately and efficiently while maintaining patient comfort.
• Prior inpatient experience or working within Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable for handling complex cases effectively.
• Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients in PICU settings.
• Strong organizational skills for managing medical records, appointment scheduling, and administrative support within busy clinics or hospital environments.

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour

Experience:

• Medical Assistant / billing and coding/office management: 2 years (Required)

License/Certification:

• CCMA Certification, CNA, Billing & Coding (Preferred)
