Duties

• Prepare, review, and submit medical claims using billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
• Ensure proper coding of diagnoses and procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding standards
• Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and health insurance details to facilitate accurate billing
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collections efforts and appeals processes
• Maintain comprehensive medical records, including documentation of billing activities and correspondence with insurance companies
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify medical coding and billing discrepancies
• Utilize Microsoft Office tools to generate reports, track billing metrics, and manage documentation efficiently
• Stay current with healthcare claims management regulations and updates in medical coding standards to ensure compliance

Experience

• Proven experience in medical billing or healthcare claims management within a medical office environment
• Familiarity with medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding systems, and DRG classifications
• Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, benefits verification, and medical collection procedures
• Proficiency in using billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting
• Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance representatives
• Ability to interpret complex medical terminology and accurately translate it into billing codes
• Prior experience managing healthcare claims from submission through reimbursement is highly preferred

Pay: $23.55 - $28.36 per hour
