Midwest Urological Group is seeking an experienced Medical Billing & Coding Specialist to join our team in our Peoria office. This is a full-time, in-person position.

We are looking for someone with strong medical billing and coding knowledge who can accurately review claims, identify coding and reimbursement issues, and work denied or unpaid claims through resolution.

Experience in urology or another specialty medical practice is a plus, but strong medical terminology, coding, and insurance billing experience are most important.

Responsibilities

• Review claims for accurate coding and billing
• Work insurance denials, rejected claims, and outstanding accounts
• Identify coding errors and make appropriate corrections
• Review medical documentation for appropriate coding and claim support
• Follow up with insurance companies regarding unpaid or underpaid claims
• Prepare corrected claims and assist with appeals
• Research payer requirements and coverage issues
• Communicate with providers and staff when additional documentation or clarification is needed
• Identify recurring billing, coding, and denial trends
• Maintain accurate documentation of billing follow-up and claim activity

Qualifications

• Previous medical billing experience required
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology
• Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding
• Understanding of modifiers and appropriate modifier use
• Knowledge of insurance claims, denials, appeals, and reimbursement
• Ability to read and understand medical documentation
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and follow claims through resolution
• Experience with Greenway Health / PrimeSuite is a plus
• Urology billing or coding experience is a plus
• Medicare and commercial insurance billing experience preferred
• Familiarity with ICD-9/legacy claims is helpful

We are looking for someone who understands that successful medical billing requires more than simply submitting claims. The right candidate will be able to investigate problems, recognize coding and reimbursement issues, and work claims through to resolution.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
