Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding of medical records, and facilitating the collection of payments. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and insurance processes to ensure timely and accurate billing.

Duties

• Review and verify patient information and medical records for accuracy.
• Code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on any outstanding claims.
• Manage accounts receivable, including tracking payments and resolving discrepancies.
• Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries.
• Maintain organized records of all billing activities and documentation.
• Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.
• Assist in the collection of overdue accounts while adhering to ethical practices.

Skills
-One year medical billing experience.

• Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), and DRG classifications.
• Experience in a medical office setting with a focus on billing or collections.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Problem-solving skills to address billing issues efficiently.
