Medical Billing Representative

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Billing Representative to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing processes, ensuring accurate submission of claims, and maintaining patient records. This role is crucial in facilitating the financial operations of our office while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Availability to grow to a full time position , if desired.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate medical billing claims to insurance companies and government programs.
• Review patient records for completeness and accuracy before billing.
• Utilize knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG coding to ensure correct coding of diagnoses and procedures.
• Follow up on unpaid claims, perform medical collections, and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Maintain organized medical records and documentation in compliance with regulations.
• Communicate effectively with patients regarding their bills, payment plans, and insurance inquiries.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary information for billing purposes.
• Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations and coding practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing or a related role within a medical office setting.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10), and DRG.
• Familiarity with medical collection processes and handling of medical records.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients and insurance representatives.
